The piece is crafted in the Gothic style, which flourished during the twelfth century and featured more slender and stylized forms, giving a more spiritual and closer version of God. The finest engraving on the base showsthe six images of the life of Christ (Annunciation, Birth, Trip to Egypt, Baptism, Crucifixion, and Resurrection), with the reliefs finished in silver plate to contrast the gold plated backgrounds. The elegance is continued in the cut-out "ajour" outer cup, node, and lower collar. Includes a 6 1/4" scale paten with ring featuring the IHS symbol.
